Social Concerns

Through the activities of the Social Concerns Committee, the Church of St. David the King supports both individuals and organizations in need of assistance. The time, talent and resources of the members of St. David the King’s parish community enables the Committee to serve those in need of our help.

The Committee plays an integral role in enabling our parish community to fulfill its guiding principles of faith, hope and charity.

We welcome help with our ministries for those wishing to donate their time. If you are interested in joining our Committee, please contact any of the following:

Our regular activities include:

  • Back-to-School Ministry (August). Gift cards given to children in need, including Trenton CYO, to purchase school supplies. This year 115 children benefited from your generosity.
  • Anchor House for Runaways (June).  We support the Anchor House Ride for Runaways, a multiple option, 500-mile bicycle ride/100-mile walk-run fundraiser. The ride provides financial support for Anchor House in Trenton, a shelter and counseling center for homeless, runaway, abused and at-risk youth.
  • CYO East State Street Center, Trenton (summer). Volunteers provide enrichment activities for grades K-6 as well as reading help for grades 1-3 for more than 50 children in summer camp
    and after-school programs.
  • Christmas Giving Tree (December). Gift tags are available on Christmas trees with ideas for parishioners to purchase gifts which are then distributed to families in need, or referrals from several local schools and social service organizations. Last year 745 gift cards were delivered to children in time for Christmas Day.
  • Holiday Meal Gift Cards. Grocery store gift cards for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter holiday dinners are given to local families in need as well as charitable organizations in West Windsor.
  • Jelly Bean Ministry (April/May). Bags of multi-colored jelly beans representing Christ’s suffering and resurrection are prepared to be given out to the children of St. David the King families at all Easter Masses.
